Item Description
High quality velvet bag w/tasseled drawstring contains 11.25x15.5" presentation book w/vinyl covers, the front cover emblazoned w/large "Mickey Mouse" cartoon logo. Book contains 12 pages, 10 of them being vinyl sleeves, each containing 9.5x12" sheets of animation paper. Second pages reads "Mickey Mouse - Presented To Maurice Sendak By The Walt Disney Company - 1988." Book includes original pencil production drawings w/image areas measuring between 3x4" and 3.25x7.25". Third page has detailed listing of the cartoons these production drawings were from, scene numbers as well as the animators and what characters the drawings included. Cartoons include - "Mickey's Gala Premiere" from 1933 and includes three drawings; from Scene 8 (#78) animated by Ben Sharpsteen and depicting Minnie and Mickey Mouse strutting up red carpet, Mickey w/leash attached to Pluto's head; Scene 27 (#46) animated by Sharpsteen and depicting Mickey reacting w/alarm; Scene 48 (#117) animated by Dick Lundy showing Greta Garbo about to kiss Mickey. "The Band Concert" from 1935 includes Scene 1 (#81) animated by Huszti Horvath and shows tight scene w/Mickey as bandleader w/crowd that includes Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Dippy Dawg (Goofy) and others; Scene 5 (#82) animated by Les Clark and depicting full body image of Mickey as bandleader; Scene 12 (#29) animated by Dick Huemer again depicts Mickey as bandleader, a look of anger on his face. "Thru The Mirror" from 1938 features two drawings from Scene 20 (#26 and #254), both animated by Dick Lundy. Color guide features Mickey dancing like Fred Astaire w/two separate images of top hat, various production notes surrounding art. Other drawing shows Mickey w/hands in pockets, balancing cane on his nose. Last drawing is for Scene 34 (#150) from "Thru The Mirror" and was animated by Hardie Gramatky and shows full body swordfight scene between Mickey and the anthropomorphic King of Hearts playing card. All sheets are lightly aged, but clean and Exc. overall. Book shows lt. scattered traces of wear and is Exc. High quality item, specially designed and produced for Maurice Sendak and featuring a stunning array of original Disney production art. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
