Item Description
7x22" thin artboard has Bob Montana pen and ink art for Aug. 31, 1949 daily strip w/four panels. Storyline has Archie only in first panel w/his mother, discussing how she's asked his father to put springs on the screen door. Second panel features Archie's father coming through door w/groceries and third panel features loud slam which Archie's mother interprets as Archie having put springs on door. Last panel shows Archie's father having been tossed into cabinet, his head through door. Art is signed in ink by Archie creator Montana in last panel. Complete w/syndicate copyright sticker in third panel. Upper margin has date penciled twice, o/w VF. A prime early example.
