Item Description
Each is an early example of Hembeck's art from 1978 drawn in India ink on thin art board. First board is 10x11.5" with 9.5x10.25" image area with highly detailed scene showing Chewbacca with his hand on Han Solo's shoulder, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker looking at each other romantically, R2-D2 and C-3PO, and Darth Vader battling Obi-Wan Kenobi in the top background area. Art is signed in ink and dated 4-30-78. Second art board is 8.5x11.25" with 8x10" image area with a female centaurette in the foreground with sprite above her and lake in detailed background. Art is signed and dated "78". Born in 1953, Fred Hembeck is best known for his parodies of comic book characters. His early work was published in "The Buyers Guide For Comic Fandom" in the mid to late 1970s. He went on to do work for DC Comics and Marvel as well as Fantaco. Image comic published "The Nearly Complete Essential Hembeck Archives Omnibus" in 2008. Both are Exc., well drawn and humorous examples of Hembeck's wonderful art.
