Item Description
This copy belongs to the San Francisco pedigree. Cover artists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby place Sandman and Sandy smack dab in the middle of a World War II battlefield. The heroes are aiding the Allies' cause by taking out enemy tanks with a bazooka. As Sandman pulls the trigger, Sandy has another shell ready to go. The action is real and the heroes are focused on winning. It is a striking image that emphasizes everything Simon and Kirby were great at. This is the last issue to feature their work on the Sandman. The title is one of DC’s longest lasting. It finally saw cancellation in 1983 with issue #503. Over the years the book was home to a dozen classic heroes. The pages are white. The book is CGC-certified 9.4 (NM). According to the CGC Census, this is the highest graded copy they have seen.
