Item Description
This issue finds Superboy, Green Arrow, Johnny Quick, and Aquaman all moving over from their regular title, More Fun Comics, into Adventure Comics. Within a year of their departure from More Fun, that title would see cancellation. This issue, Adventure Comics #103, marks the beginning of Superboy’s long run as the cover attraction for Adventure Comics. In addition, the logo has been shrunk to a rectangular format that seems similar to the one used on the cover of Action Comics at the time. Aquaman and Green Arrow’s move to this title is one of the reasons that they were able to avoid disappearing when superheroes started to fail at the end of the forties. The cover features a much smaller and younger-looking Superboy than we are used to. The action on this cover brings to mind the very first cover of Action #1. On that famous cover, Superman is pictured raising a car over his head as criminals flee in terror. For this issue, Superboy is casually lifting a car off of a jack as a citizen looks on in astonishment. In one small way, the cover can serve as a comment on how far Superman had come since his first appearance. The issue also features a story with the Shining Knight. The pages are cream to off-white. The book has been CGC-certified 9.2 (NM-). According to the CGC Census, this is the third-highest graded copy they have seen.
