12x14.5" cloth-bound unpaginated hardcover by Henry Mayer published by R.H. Russell in 1899. Book features collection Mayer's intricate and humorous illustrations, many including animals. Uncle Sam and Britain's John Bull are seen embracing on one page as well as various illustrations of jungle animals including some animals with combined traits including striped rhino, and armored zebra. Another page shows farmer with plow driven by crow as cows cavort about tree branch. Binding is broken on several pages but all pages remain intact. Cover shows obvious aging and dust soiling. VG with Fine/VF pages. Great art.
