Item Description
10.75x14" unpaginated cloth-bound hardcover by Frank Beard published by The Rams Horn Press of Chicago c. 1899. Beard became a famous cartoonist in the late 19th century, his cartoons appearing in "Judge." Around 1893 Beard began illustrating for "The Ram's Horn," a Christian periodical published in Chicago. Book features glossy pages with full-color plates of Beard's artwork. Book features anti-secular and pro-Christian themed cartoons including images of the Devil, Uncle Sam, Jesus and "Daniel" in the lion's den. Each plate has onion skin sheet in front of it. One page has 1" tear. Handling and cover wear. VG/Fine with overall Exc. pages. Comes with typed 8.5x10-7/8" letter on "The Ram's Horn" letterhead dealing with printing of this book and how orders can be made. Letter has 4.5" crease in upper left-hand corner and small tears at margins. VG. Additional photos available online. See following item #1426.
