Lignante first drew The Phantom in 1961. He then drew the Sunday strip from Aug. 1961 to May 1962. He provided interior art for Gold Key's The Phantom comic book for issues #1-18,  continuing the book for King Comics through issue #28. He also occasionally contributed to Charlton Comics' Phantom run. Offered here is a piece of specialty art showing The Phantom watching three masked natives who stand around simmering cauldron, w/hand-lettered thought balloon reading "I'm Afraid To Ask What's For Dinner!" Bottom right has been signed by Lignante in black ink. Top left has "The Phantom" name w/skull symbol and Lignante has added "Created By Lee Falk - ©1964 By KFS" below his signature. Bottom margin has black ink inscription from Lignante to fan, dated Jan. 10, 1966. Pin/staple holes at corners and along margins, which have some lt. aging, but art area remains clean and Exc.
