Item Description
Large and impressive 20x25-7/8" Hi-Art Illustration Board has mixed media original art by Pete Millar (1929-2003), illustrator, cartoonist and drag racer known for his work w/CARtoons and DRAG Cartoons magazines. Offered here is Millar's original art for the cover to DRAG Cartoons #44, published Oct. 1967. This is a the first DRAG Cartoons cover art to come up for auction. Art features humorous Halloween cartoon of the Headless Horseman behind the wheel of a souped up 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS-350, set against a full moon. Millar has signed below Camaro's rear wheel. Handwritten "July Issue - Number 5" notation at upper right w/publication notations at along margins. Artboard comes w/partial acetate overlay which is missing large upper right corner and is split along lower right corner. Artboard has some moderate corner tip and has staple holes at corners and along top margin w/strips of aged masking tape across top/bottom margins. Artboard is Fine overall, but main image area retains vivid color and would make for Exc. display if matted and framed. Comes w/reading copy of the issue this cover art was created for. From the Archives of Publisher Pete Millar.
