Item Description
See previous item. Offered here is 14x15.75" totally hand-made prototype placemat design on thin artboard w/meticulously hand-cut pieces and hand-done accents, outlines, details in ink. This concept was proposed for both Quaker and Post cereal mascots. 1960s. Prototype depicts Post cereal mascot Linus the Lion. Glossy brown paper applied to artboard serves as Linus's mane while stiff yellow paper serves as his face and stiff white paper eyes have been added. Larger black portions have been inked. All line work has been hand-done. Back has "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown sticker. Missing one eyebrow, w/some lt. glue staining visible. Prototype shows some scattered handling wear w/creases at bottom center and top right has sliver of mane off at edge. Some scattered aging to ears and eyes. Fine/VF. An exceptional, one-of-a-kind piece for the cereal collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
