Item Description
11-7/8x12.25" totally hand-made prototype placemat design on thin artboard w/meticulously hand-cut pieces and hand-done accents, outlines, details in ink and paint. This concept was proposed for both Quaker and Post cereal mascots. 1960s. Prototype depicts Quaker cereal Quake mascot. Red, black, yellow and white portions of prototype are colored stiff paper that have been applied to artboard while all line work has been hand-done. Yellow and black areas have been painted. Flesh and bkg. areas are also stiff colored paper that serves as base that other colors were applied to. Back has "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown sticker. Some lt. wear and scattered trace aging to white paper used for eyes, teeth and helmet lamp and there is a .5" hairline split at Quake's elbow. VF overall.
