Item Description
15.25x23-1/8" thin artboard w/pen and ink original art for April 11, 1971 Sunday page. Art is by Dan Barry (who created art for the "Flash Gordon" Sunday page from 1967-1990) and features nine panels (w/paste-over title stat in first panel). Both Flash Gordon and Dale Arden are seen in first panel, witnessing robot explode,that causes them to have to flee underground base w/the help of the Spy-Eye, which leads them to surface of planet, that seems to be self-destructing w/o the watchful eye of its robot creator. Hand-inked title and date across top margin. KFS copyright strip at bottom of last panel. Third panel has aged text correction paste-over, but o/w art remains clean and Exc.
