Item Description
Original 4x5" glossy shows team in uniforms posed on a ball field w/spectators in stands behind them. Standing at center is HOFer Martin Dihigo player/manager for the team. Also shown is fellow National Baseball HOF member and Negro League star Willie Wells in addition to Alejandro Oms, Julio Rojo and Cocaina Garcia. As taken, details are not sharp, but all faces are distinguishable. This team won the league championship and was led by Dihigo who had one of the most impressive years on any player of any era. He led the league in many batting and pitching categories: batting average, runs scored, hits, triples, RBI, complete games, wins and shutouts. He of course won the MVP award for this season. Moderate handling wear mostly to margins w/.5" tear at bottom center. Image remains clean. Fine. An historic photo for a powerhouse team. Personally owned by Martin Dihigo and comes w/COA signed by his son Gilberto Dihigo.  With the recent announcement that more Negro Leaguers will be eligible for National Baseball Hall of Fame induction in 2020, Alejandro Oms is at the top of the list for most likely candidates to gain enshrinement. One can only imagine what that will do for the value of his collectibles.
