Item Description

14.5x19.75" artboard has Vernon Greene's pen and ink original art for page 10 of the Jan. 1942 issue of "The Shadow Comics" Vol. 2 #2, published by Street & Smith Publications, Inc. Art is for last page of "The Devil Master" story and features five panels, showing Myra (as Ming Dwan) And Margot escape the clutches of Su Yeng, The Devil Master by jumping out of window and landing on parade blanket, only for Su Yeng to follow, missing the blanket and dying. The Shadow is seen in three panels, w/last panel ending w/his "The Shadow Knows" catchphrase. Top has been inscribed "Hi Ho, Murray, Now You Owe Me A Drawing - Best Wishes - Vernon Greene." Pair of inkstamps on reverse from original owner, not showing through onto front. Back of artboard also has brown paper tape around margins, but art is o/w clean and Exc. Comes w/reading copy of the issue this art appeared in.
