Item Description
10-5/8x11-5/8" artboard has pen and ink and inkwash original art by longtime "Playboy" cartoonist Phil Interlandi (1924-2002), who sold his first cartoon to "Playboy" in 1955. Interlandi was a regular contributor to the men's magazine, submitting up until his death. Art was published in the July 1961 issue of "Playboy and features angry sorority girl wearing "Tri-Delts" shirt standing in doorway to hut where college-age young man is seated on the floor w/his arms around two bare-breasted native girls. His "Youth Peace Corps" plastered suitcase sits in corner while wall of hut is adorned w/"Iowa" pennant. Blue pencil text cartoon caption at bottom reads "Well... Wait Till President Kennedy Hears About This!" Interlandi has signed at lower left in black ink. Bottom margin has some additional editorial notations. Top margin has stamped "Playboy" title and some scattered tape staining. Bottom corners show some wear but art remains clean and Exc. Would look great framed. Comes w/worn reading copy of the issue this art was published in as well as "Playboy" COA.
