Item Description
19.5x24.75" artboard has been cut into two pieces. Artboard features original pen and ink art for April 14, 1940 Sunday Page w/art by "Joe Palooka" creator Ham Fisher. Page consists of 12 panels, featuring Joe Palooka, Ann and Knobby Walsh walking through New York and running into an array of boxing promoters and managers, w/Knobby speaking in heavy New York slang, asking about prize money, gate totals and placing bets w/characters that have names such as "Chizzle, Beezer, Hoofer, Clam" and others. Joe loans a friend some money in one panel. Art is signed by Fisher at lower right of last panel. Top center margin has penciled date and printer centering labels at left/right. Margins have some blue pencil editorial notations and scattered dust soiling/aging. Top panel is missing large title paste-over. Artboard margins show moderate aging/wear and are Fine overall. Bottoms of fourth and fifth panels have some aging, but o/w art is clean and VF and would make for nice display if matted and framed.
