11-1/8x16.75" Strathmore artboard has pen and ink original art by Todd McFarlane for Amazing Spider-Man #302, published by Marvel Comics July 1988. Page features four panels, showing Spider-Man web-swinging past the research laboratories of On-Line Research into a construction site, where he observes propane cannisters exploding as last panel shows shadowy figure racing through construction site at superhuman speeds. This would be revealed to be the speedster Wes Cassady (aka Bunny Man). First panel is large splash panel, showing Spider-Man in a classic action-packed McFarlane pose, surrounded by the signature webbing McFarlane was known for during his time with Spider-Man.

"When looking at Spider-Man comics of the late '80s and early '90s, it's hard not to instantly think of Todd McFarlane," opined Hake's Senior Consignment Manager Mike Bollinger. "His Spidey was imbued with a new dynamic that truly lived up to Marvel's use of hyperbolic adjectives like "Amazing" and "Spectacular." His Spider-Man just had a different feel. Page 6. Thought balloons have been hand-lettered. Top margin has inked title and issue/page numbers as well as month of publication. Bottom margin has been signed in blue ink by McFarlane at lower right. Back has Marvel Comics copyright inkstamp and large inked "Thanks!!" inscription that McFarlane has added a very large and impressive signature to, complete with spider dangling from his last name. Top margin has strip of white tape at upper left margin as well as thin strip of white tape above first panel, neither affecting art. Top margin has also been unevenly trimmed and margins have some scattered dust soiling w/pinholes at corners and at upper left margin. Art remains clean and Exc. Art was obtained in-person from McFarlane at San Diego Comic-Con. Comes with multi-signed reading copy of the comic this art was produced for, signed on title page by editor Jim Salicrup (who adds "'92" date) and letterer Rick Parker. Page 6 has been signed at top in black in by McFarlane. Page 17 has also been signed at bottom by McFarlane and Parker. Lawrence Klein Collection.
