Item Description
7.5x18" attractive wood frame holds mat w/3x14" opening around the fully opened three-panel postcard. Front features 26 team members shown full figure and posing on their ball field. Below each image is person's last name while on bottom margin is title, copyright and photographer's name "R.W. Johnston Studios." Shown on this team are HOF members Honus Wagner, Vic Willis, Fred Clarke. This team won the NL pennant with a record of 110-42 and would go on to win their first World Series over the Detroit Tigers. Wagner led the league that year in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and runs batted in. Framed w/glass on both sides so full surfaces can be viewed for both front and back. Back has been used w/Pittsburgh postmark of Oct. 8, 1909 (the date of the first game of the World Series). Trace of aging to reverse. Front show lt. wear along original fold lines. Images are sharp.
