Item Description
These are 1.25" to 1.5". The celluloid ones are in the top row and these are two we've not seen before plus the second in row two. The other four are litho tin and the first in row two we've not seen before. They date from the 1940s into the late 1950s. Tucker's career began in the early 1900s and she became famous for her comical and risqué songs, becoming one of the most popular entertainers during the first half of the 20th century widely known by her nickname "The Last Of The Red Hot Mamas." She was a major cultural influence to the extent that the Beatles paid homage to her and she influenced female entertainers that followed her including Mae West, Carol Channing, Joan Rivers, Rosanne Barr, Ethel Merman, "Mama" Cass Elliot, and most notably Bette Midler who includes "Soph" as one of her many stage characters. Buttons are Exc. to Mint and this the most extensive collection we've ever seen. From the Paul Muchinsky Collection. See additional historic early movie and vaudeville items #1069, 1075.
