Item Description
Over-sized 18.75x24.5" cloth-bound "elephant" folio that was published in 1936, prior to the opening of the 1939 New York World's Fair. This is first printing of the first edition and uses first proposed logo for the Fair featuring the Statue of Liberty on the cover and features totally different "Theme Center" which would later come to be the iconic Trylon and Perisphere buildings. Also features proposed maps of fairgrounds as well as listing those involved w/the planning and production of the Fair. Two-page spread shows aerial photo of New York City and the surrounding areas w/overlaying image of the Fair site. Illustrated throughout w/great Art Deco images. Second to last page has small text at bottom that reads "Created And Supervised By Lord And Thomas, And The Administrative Staff Of The New York World's Fair 1939 Incorporated." Scattered moisture staining along edges/corners and scattered edge wear to covers. Front cover has some scattered orange crayon/colored penciling and moderate age spotting. Fine overall.
