Value Code:

Item Description
4-5/8x9.75" wide tin litho toy produced in Germany for import to England as noted by marking on underside. Further text on underside reads "By Exclusive Arrangement With The Ideal Films Ltd." 1930. "Mickey The Musical Mouse" name appears at bottom center of toy, along w/registration number at left and "All Rights Reserved" text at right. Main body of toy measures 3-1/8x9.75" and features the bodies of Minnie Mouse pushing a stroller (in which a baby Mickey Mouse is seen playing a horn), Mickey Mouse standing w/hands on hips and another Mickey Mouse as an organ grinder, the organ having Mickey Mouse's face on it. Attached to back of toy is a metal hand-crank box that when handle is turned, moves a painted tin arm which has three separate die-cut tin litho heads attached. These each depict different Mickey/Minnie Mouse faces. Organ grinder Mickey's head appears as if singing. When cranked, toy produces musical notes and heads move back and forth. Three different versions of this toy were produced, this version w/Minnie is considered the best. Scattered spider-webbing to tin litho surface of main toy body, not offensive. Heads have some scattered aging and spider-webbing to surfaces, w/middle head being more moderately aged. Fine overall. Among the best, rarest and most sought after of all German-made Mickey Mouse tin toys. This is the only example of this toy we know of as it is the very example bought years ago at auction by Maurice Sendak for $40,000. From the Maurice Sendak Collection and comes with COA.
