Lot of three 3.75x6.5" First Day Covers, each having been hand-painted by the artist Elaine Thompson. Issued in conjunction w/the 25th Anniversary of the 1969 moon landing in 1994, each featuring a close-up oil portrait of a member of Apollo 11 - Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin - each set against a starry space bkg. Backs of each handmade envelope have Thompson's hand-lettered text, noting each as 4/22 produced for each astronaut. All have July 20, 1994 Washington, DC postmarks and matching double stamps depicting lunar landing/saluting astronaut. Exc.
