Item Description
20x27.75" thin Strathmore artboard has original pen and ink Sunday page art for Jan. 29, 1967 by Gene Hazelton. Total of 11 panels, first panel has "Hanna- Barbera's" paste-over while eighth panel has McNaught Syndicate, Inc. srtip. Upper left margin notes this is strip "#330 'Bat Bear'" in red pencil. Humorous strip depicts Yogi Bear as Bat Bear and Boo Boo as Bat Wonder, an obvious spoof of Batman and Robin. Strip finds them in full costume, racing through the mountains on motorcycle (w/bat-headed front fairing) in title panel, jumping off and Boo Boo extinguishes a discarded cigar w/a water pistol and the pair save a kitten from an attacking dog much to Ranger Smith's chagrin. The duo then returns to "Jellystone's Bat Cave" where Yogi and Boo Boo hang upside down w/several bats for a nap. Yogi and Boo Boo are seen in every panel together but one, w/Ranger Smith appearing in two panels. Margins have some lt. aging/dust soiling but art areas are Exc. overall. Easily among the best Yogi Bear Sunday pages.
