Item Description
See other Fredericks art in this auction. Thin art boards are 11.5x22.5” w/9.25x25” India ink image area w/ ©1983 King Features Syndicate stickers. Both are from same story sequence. Each has six panels. Sept. 5 example has Mandrake and Lothar driving convertible in desert. They get lost and are flagged down by bearded man yelling “Gold!” who gets grabbed by criminals and taken away as Mandrake is directed elsewhere. Dec. 12 example has Mandrake and Lothar watching ceremony w/Indian impersonator about to sacrifice bearded man w/knife on altar. Both originals are signed in ink “Falk and Fredericks” and signed again “Fred Fredericks” on bottom margin. A few minor blue pencil correction marks, otherwise clean and Exc. Fredericks has drawn the “Mandrake The Magician” comic strip for over 40 years, did “The Phantom” Sunday comic strip for five years, and inked many comic books. A well drawn pair.
