Item Description
This is one of the masterpieces of W&H whose name appears in tiny text on the bottom edge of this 4" button which has metal covered concave back. A pin was once fastened on the upper metal rim edge that is now gone but a neat replacement is in position. There is a little excess solder on the upper metal back. Just above this on the celluloid edge is a narrow 3/8" line of missing celluloid but the only celluloid missing from the front is a tiny 3/16" long spot above the letter "V" of "Wave." The button has no stain and high gloss. Rising above swirling foamy ocean waters is the machine itself supported by four legs. Machine and the rim both carry the name of the maker "Voss Bro's Mfg. Co., Davenport, Iowa." Other than the example in Hake's Collectible Pin-Back Buttons this is the only additional example known to us. Likely c.1908. Rare and displays NM.
