Item Description
3.5x5.5". Honus is shown wearing a Pittsburg Pirates team jacket and leaning against an automobile. A teammate stands next to him and wears a Pirates sweater but his face is mostly hidden by a shadow. Reverse was used and actually addressed to Honus- "Mr. Hans Wagner c/o Pittsburg Ball Club Pittsburg Penn" along with message dated 4/16/1911 "Yours Truly K.M. Dickey K.C. Mo." Has postmark of 4/17/1911. Honus played for the Pirates from 1900-1917 and was the NL batting champion the year of this postcard, the last time he accomplished this feat (having done it a total of eight times in his HOF career). The original photo that was used to make this postcard had a white spot on Honus' breast pocket and this in turn appears on the printed postcard but all is as produced at the time. However the image remains sharp. Lt. edge wear and aging. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
