Item Description
Full color illustration for February 1911 "Maclean's" magazine. 27.75x31.75" high quality wood frame has double archival mat with 18x22" image area. Original oil painting signed at the lower left "Frank E. Schoonover" done on Ravoe illustration board has typed paper caption on reverse "He Stretched Himself In The Shade And Eyed Her Complacently Until He Fell Asleep." Exc. Frank Schoonover (1877-1972) studied under Howard Pyle and became part of what would become the Brandywine school. Primarily working during the first half of the 20th century, he illustrated stories and books including Clarence Mulford's "Hopalong Cassidy" and Edgar Rice Burroughs's "A Princess of Mars." Extremely well done and ready for display.
