Item Description
7.5x9.25" glossy photo c.1940s shows 18 member team in uniforms at edge of ball field with bats lined up in front of them and fans in crowded stands in background. Photo has a few lt. handling creases, mostly just visible in reflected light, otherwise VF. Lazaro Salazar career stats include 112-78 as a pitcher in the Mexican League and 35-24 as a pitcher in Cuba. He hit .382 in the Negro Leagues, third all time behind Chino Smith and Larry Doby. He had batting titles in three countries and was regularly in his league’s top ten in both average and ERA. He went on to become one of the most successful managers in Mexican league history, taking four different teams to championships, including the Monterrey Industriales. A superb and crisp image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
