Item Description
See Veracruz Uniform #1290. “Official Royal Match Ball” has ink text “Club Veracruz 1944" on sweet spot and has been signed in fountain pen ink. Key players who signed include: Chile Gomez, Chico Hernandez, Domingo Santana, Silvio Garcia, Ramone Bragana, and Augustin Bejerano. Ball has dust soil and obvious aging, possibly used in an actual game. Most signatures are still bold and overall VG. The team was owned by millionaire Jorge Pasquel who signed many standout American and Cuban players, raiding both the Negro League and Major League baseball. They won the Mexican League Pennant the year this ball was signed as well as in 1940, 1941, and 1951. The team was managed by Rogers Hornsby and Ramone Bragana in 1944, and the ball includes Bragana’s signature. A signed baseball rarity. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA as well as JSA LOA.
