Item Description
5.5" tall c. early 1900s high quality hand painted German bisque. Container attached to back has No.6322 marked on bottom with art nouveau flower design on sides. Wonderful likeness of Si with angry expression holding pipe. From same series as #1995-96. NM and quite possibly the only figural item done for this character. "And Her Name Was Maud" comic strip was created by Frederick Burr Opper and first appeared July 24, 1904. Maud was a mule w/a mind of her own belonging to farmer Si Slocum and his wife Mirandy. The humorous storyline involved a build up to Maud kicking someone in the air, usually Si.
