Item Description
This watch from 1933 is not only the first Mickey watch but it is also the first version produced. It was altered slightly by the Fall of 1933 and then other st. alterations occurred throughout the Winter of 1935. 4.5” long box with hinged lid is version with single Mickey image on lid. At top left corner is “1933 A Century of Progress Chicago” sticker as it was originally issued. Inside of lid features same Mickey design and box is complete with cardboard insert. Box shows all over wear/aging including surface paper rubs along edges and some dust soiling. VG. Definitive characteristics of the first version watch are art deco geometric designs on bezel, wire lugs attached to metal band and number “5” on dial is above Mickey’s knee. Animated dial, Mickey’s hands point at the numerals and between his legs is second hand disc that rotates and features 3 small Mickey images. Has six metal link band with clasp plus additional pair of attachments featuring Mickey images, both which retain near full black accent paint that is typically missing. Slightest aging to the dial but remains totally clean. Watch has near full bright luster. Running. Exc. Comes with original but worn guarantee paper, also the first issue of this paper confirmed as per wording on this particular sheet. VG. From the Jerry Howell Jr. Collection.
