Item Description
The first Mickey watch was issued in 1933 (see item #2267). This is version from Fall of 1934 and while close to the 1933 version, the dial has slight differences. Most notably, the number “5” appears below Mickey’s knee rather than above. Black leather band is version with half-circular shaped end and has pair of metal Mickey attachments both which retain near full black paint accent but one with some silver luster wear. One attachment Exc., the other Fine. Band shows lt. wear from use but remains Fine/VF. Dial remains clean, case retains near full luster. Running and Exc. Watch comes in 4.5” long box which is variety with character images on all sides of Mickey, Minnie, Horace, Clarabelle and Pluto plus single image of Mickey on inside of lid. Complete with cardboard insert as well as original cardboard strip noting issue price of $2.95. Box has lt. trace of edge wear but remains bright and clean with deep rich color. VF. Also comes with original guarantee paper specific to the Fall of 1934 as back is blank (this was because Ingersoll had released the Big Bad Wolf watch and used the same paper for both of these watches). Trace of edge wear. Fine. From the Jerry Howell Jr. Collection.
