Item Description
14x14.5" cardboard mat w/8.5x9" opening around the original art which is pen and ink on velum overlay. Depicts Walt and Mickey at a bar, Walt holds a drink and cigarette, Mickey sits atop the bar next to a bottle of milk. Art was done in 1979 and used as a way to raise funds for MLF against Disney in the infamous Air Pirates lawsuit of the 1970s. The Air Pirates were a group of cartoonists who created two issues of an underground comic called Air Pirates Funnies in 1971, leading to the lawsuit. The group was founded by Dan O'Neill and in 1979 he recruited a diverse group of artists for an MLF art show displayed in Philadelphia and San Diego. Each piece of art for this show was numbered and the artist's identity was kept confidential. This piece of original art is marked "0057-1" at lower right along w/MLF copyright. Scattered trace of aging to the mat but art itself is Exc.
