Item Description
8x8.5x1.5" deep wood frame surrounding painted cardboard bkg. upon which two individual layers of glass bearing the images are mounted to produce a three-dimensional scene, depicting Pinocchio as donkey boy diving to the bottom of the sea w/help from rock he has tied his tail around. A multitude of fish swim by as Jiminy Cricket rides a seahorse beside him. Reverse of frame covered by paper label explaining how Disney uses the multi-plane technique in his studio. These were produced by Courvoisier Galleries during the 1940s for sale as representations of the Disney art form. This is No. 8 in the series, listed as "Pinocchio Under The Sea," though label incorrectly identifies film as being "Bambi." Label has scattered age toning and wear from metal tabs (one being replace w/small nail) used to secure contents. Frame shows very little wear and is VF while the actual multi-plane is Exc. One of the rarest in the series and the first such example we've offered in our 57 years.
