Item Description
Aside from  Babe Ruth (see previous lot) this is the next most desirable card in this set (set info detailed in the previous item's description). The back of this card describes Cobb as "Greatest Player That Ever Lived. Holds More Records Than Any Other Three Players." Ty Cobb began his MLB career with the Detroit Tigers in 1905 and would spend the next 22 seasons w/Detroit before closing out his career playing his final two seasons w/the Philadelphia Athletics in 1927-28. Cobb Would retire as baseball's all-time hits leader with 4,189 as well as the all-time runs scored leader with 2,245 and career stolen base record of 897. Cobb was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936. At this time, there is one less example of this Cobb card in the PSA census than Ruth, 35 Cobb to 36 Ruth. This is a nice example of a rare and sought after card.
