Item Description
9.75x14.5" thick artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish Comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for Escalofrio #61, which reprints Tomb of Dracula #56 and 58 by Gene Colan and Tom Palmer. Text translates loosely to "Shudder, The Vampire Conspiracy". Published in Spain ©1973 Marvel Comics Group. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/art showing a skeletal ghoul on a rooftop gazing at a scantily clad woman in a window. Cover image doesn't reflect any content in book. Original image by Espí. Back of artboard has handwritten "Escalofrio, 61" at top in pencil. Art remains bright and clean. Art has lt. edge wear. VF. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish comic books, featuring a horrific image and is unsigned by artist. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
