Item Description
14-3/8x22" artboard has pen and ink original art by Jack Sparling (1916-1997), a comic artist who provided art for a variety of publishers, including Harvey Comics and Charlton Comics (The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman) as well as working on Classics Illustrated. Art is for the cover to Neutron #1, published by Dell Jan. 1967. Art is dominated by giant robotic Neutro, w/two jets attacking him as military and lab staff look on. Top margin has inked title, issue number and month of publication along w/printer notations. Bottom margin has extensive production notations as well as inked price at lower left. Artboard has some scattered aging along left margin, but art o/w remains clean and would display Exc. if matted and framed. See CGC 9.8 copy of the comic book this art was created for, lot #1347.
