Item Description
20x30" foamcore has black tape margins w/19-1/8x29" image area. This concept art features John Travolta as the vampire Lestat, holding the hand of the eternally youthful Claudia w/the New Orleans skyline visible in the bkg. Author Anne Rice wrote Interview With The Vampire in 1976, w/actor Rutger Hauer in mind for main character Lestat. The rights to the novel were optioned by Paramount before the book was published, and John Travolta was earmarked to play Lestat, but a glut of vampire films at the time put the project on hiatus. By the time the film was in preproduction in the early 1990s, Hauer and Travolta had been deemed "too old" to portray the ever-young vampire. Offered here is Paul Chadwick (of Concrete comic book fame) concept original art for what might have been. Painted c. late 1970s-1980s. Chadwick has signed at lower right. Board has attached brown paper overlay w/inked notation including "Count Travolta." Board has moderate corner tip wear but art area remains clean and could be framed for an Exc. display.
