The Sky Climbers of America was an aviation-related club sponsored by boys' clothing stores, c. 1929. Members could qualify as Oiler, Mechanic, Pilot or Ace. Flight Leader was reserved for the head of a club, similar to a scout leader. The "Chief" was head of the sales department at the store. The club's mascot was a young aviator named Pete Weet. Offered here is an extensive lot of 14 pieces related to this club, including five issues of the "Sky Climbers Of America" magazine (1929 "Vacation" issue,  plus Vol. 2 1930 issues #1, 3, 4 and 9), "Secret Manual" folder, 1" dia. pinback button w/Pete Weet image, 2.75" dia. embroidered patch, 2.25x2.5" decal of button image and five nice quality metal badges - basic member w/o medal attachment (all other have attachments), Pilot, Ace, Flight Leader and Chief Sky Climber. Higher rank badges are rare. Varying degrees of aging/wear, conditions vary from Fine to Exc. An instant collection.
