Item Description
10.5x15-5/8" artboard has pen and ink original art for page 11 of World's Finest #246, published by DC Comics Sept. 1977. Art is by Kurt Schaffenberger (1920-2002), best known for his work on Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family during both the Golden Age and Bronze Age of comics, as well as his work on the title Superman's Girl Friend, Lois Lane during the 1950s and 1960s. Art has been inked by Murphy Anderson (1926-2015). Art is for title page to Part 2 of The Prisoner Of The Kryptonite Asteroid and features five panels, showing Superman and Batman spotting Kryptonite asteroid containing hunch-backed twin of Superman, who goes on to give his history as Jor-El proudly holds up Kal-El to adoring crowd and Lara asks doctor to hide her deformed son from Jor-El. Superman and Batman appear in second panel (w/infant Kal-El appearing in one panel) while Superman's twin appears in two panels. Schaffenberger has signed in black ink at top right while Anderson has signed in blue ink by image of baby Superman. DC copyright inkstamp on back. Top/bottom center margin have strips of tape staining, but o/w art remains clean and Exc.
