Item Description
14.25x21-1/8" artboard features pen and ink original art for page 4 of Master Comics #124, published by Fawcett Oct. 1951. Art is by Bill Ward (1919-1998), a cartoonist notable as a good girl artist and creator of the risqué comics character Torchy. Art is from The Light That Failed storyline and features nine panels, showing Captain Marvel Jr. rescuing survivors from wrecked yacht and investigating a robbery aboard the wrecked vessel before realizing the nearby lighthouse beacon is out. Captain Marvel Jr. appears in every panel (albeit as tiny outline figure in two panels). Top margin has stamped Fawcett name and title as well as handwritten title and issue/page numbers. Scattered editorial notations along margins w/glue staining from missing text correction strips in third and fourth panels and replaced word balloon w/hand-lettered text in sixth panel. Additional word edit in seventh panel.  Artboard has some corner tip wear and dust soiling to margins, but art is o/w VF.
