Item Description
The final version of this long running club kit. Complete kit consists of five pieces, all that was issued for this final version (see previous six lots). Envelope is the only version of the four produced that actually pictures the badge along w/club name by return address. Scattered handling wear, Fine/VF. Member letter has briefest text of the four produced, but does mention the badge (which was revived after a period during World War II in which it was replaced by a fabric patch due to wartime metal restrictions). Exc. 1.5" tall metal badge is the second version and has small style lettering (see large letter variant, item #1581). While the difference in the letters is subtle, when comparing them side by side, it is clearly evident. Bar pin on reverse is version that runs vertically. Moderate luster wear but highlights remain. Fine. Certificate is the first and only to feature Black Canary. The other eight superheroes shown appear on previous versions but some are altered images. Recipient info is typed/inked. Horizontal fold at center as mailed and some scattered handling wear. Fine. Cardboard decoder is radically different from earlier versions, being designed as a folder rather than a wheel. Inside has secret code chart. Scattered lt. wear. VF. These are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
