Item Description
Pair of 9-1/8x10" thin artboards have had top margins trimmed to fit shape of published Whitman coloring/Magic Slate book No. 2962:88, © 1960 Marjorie Henderson Buell. Offered here are the mixed media original art for both front and back covers to this book. Mixed media depicts Little Lulu w/crayon palette creating a portrait of herself as princess on front cover while Tubby is depicted on back, laughing at the angry image of Little Lulu as a witch he has created. Lower left corner comes w/loose paste-over, featuring crayons and box (which was a separate piece and is now missing), used to cover original art of oil paints. Top left corner has creases w/some slight loss of paint resulting. Art is o/w bright and vibrant, displaying Exc. Comes w/unused file copy quality example of the book this art was produced for.
