Item Description
7-1/8x23-1/8" artboard has Al Capp's pen and ink original art for April 11, 1946 daily strip. Strip features four panels, w/text in first panel regarding Lester Gooch's imprisonment due to refusing to marry Lena the Hyena, noting he's writing a letter to his "Worst Enemy." Abner reads said letter in second panel, w/panel being split between image of Abner w/letter and hand-lettered text of letter itself. Letter goes on to lambaste Abner for suggesting Gooch introduce an unattractive woman into his comic strip, noting he found her (Lena) and is being forced to marry her. Unless the marriage proceeds, Gooch notes he will be left in freezing ice cell and not allowed to draw "Fearless Fosdick" anymore. Letter goes on to blame Abner for Gooch's current predicament. Capp has signed last panel. First panel has UFS copyright paste-over. Top left margin has penciled "Truth And Consequences" title w/title repeated on back of artboard in blue pencil. Artboard has scattered all over dust soiling and some lt. glue staining. Fine overall.
