Item Description
10.5x25.75" frame contains artboard that has been matted to 6-1/819-5/8" and features four panels of pen and ink original art by "Archie" co-creator Bob Montana. Art is for the Jan. 4, 1947 daily strip and features Archie and Jughead asking Archie's father if they could borrow his new car to go to the basketball game. Mr. Andrews reacts w/outrage, shouting "Now When I Was A Kid - I Didn't Have A Car! When I Started Out In Life I Had To Walk!" Jughead replies "You Were Lucky, Mr. Andrews! When I Started Out I Couldn't Even Walk!" in typical Jughead fashion. Archie appears in first and third panels while Jughead appears in all but second. All but second panel have screentone accents. Montana has signed and dated last panel, which also has double McClure Newspaper Syndicate paste-overs. There appears to have been a third as lt. glue staining is visible but o/w art displays Exc. as matted and framed.
