Item Description
14.5x20.5" thin artboard has pen and ink original art by noted comic artist Mac Raboy, known for his work on Fawcett Comics' "Captain Marvel Jr." and as the Sunday strip artist of "Flash Gordon" for over 20 years. Offered here is Raboy's original art for Nov. 12, 1961 eight panel strip that features Flash Gordon in three panels. Story deals w/Flash Gordon being taken prisoner by Prince Al Maarri and discussions about using him as a hostage while feasting and then heading into the desert, thinking they won't be followed. Last panel reveals this is unlikely, given "Next Week - The Raiders!" title. Sixth panel has KFS copyright strip and date. Title panel is stat paste-over which shows obvious aging. Some scattered editorial notations in margins. Artboard is aged and has some margin wear, but o/w art areas remain clean and Exc.
