Item Description
12-1/8x20-3/8" artboard has pen and ink original art and hand-lettered text w/two stat example badges attached. Artboard has attached vellum overlay which has been partially colored as intended to serve as a color guide for the finished sign promoting badge premium idea that was first used in 1950 as a Hopalong Cassidy premium. This is for 1952 promotion that featured generic Western designs and wasn't associated w/a particular cowboy personality. Hand-lettered text reads "Hey Kids! Get All 12 Of These Swell Western Badges!" w/Sheriff pointing to his badge. Sign also features the two aforementioned badge stats ("Rodeo Trick Rider" and "Wild Bill Hickok") and has areas of glue staining for the other ten badge stats. Bottom margin has scattered production notations and artboard has printer marks taped in place w/aged tape strips. Some scattered aging/wear, but art remains VF overall. Overlay shows moderate wear w/edge tears/splits and corner off lower left (not affecting art). VG. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold, accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
