Item Description
12x20.25" artboard w/matching vellum overlay and pen and ink/mixed media original art for 1952 premium (which was itself a re-release of a 1948 Post Raisin Bran cereal premium), consisting of 12 comic character rings. This sign was prepared for General Foods which owns Post's although it was printed w/o either names. Artboard has pen and ink images of boy and girl wearing rings w/two applied stats showing Lillums and Little Orphan Annie rings. Area w/lt. glue staining indicates other rings were also applied and all have had names hand-lettered. This includes - Smilin' Jack, Smokey Stover, Winnie Winkle, Herby, Skeezix, Smitty, Harold Teen and Dick Tracy. Printer labels w/aged tape at margins. Some production notations along bottom and right margins. Some scattered dust soiling, but art remains clean and VF overall. Overlay (which was once attached at top back) has sample of coloring for sign' boy and girls as well as rings are colored and strip of text has also been colored as intended for use as a color guide. Sign was produced and we have sold examples from the Gold Archives in the past. Moderate edge wear w/some scattered aging. Fine overall. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
