Item Description
11-5/8x17-7/8" artboard w/India ink original art by Charles "Doc" Winner for Aug. 18, 1935 "Elmer" Sunday page. Art features nine panels showing Elmer and friend encountering and capturing what they suspect is "A Wild Mountain Chicken," which they take back to their tent and make a nest for. The go on to discuss the eggs they'll eat and saving some so they can have "Fried Spring Chicken Every Day." Last panel reveals chicken (who has been named Henrietta) did not lay any eggs and in fact has eaten all of their bread and beans. Winner has signed in last panel. KFS copyright strip in seventh panel. Margins have four inkstamp dates and top margin has penciled text including "Elmer" title. Pin holes at corners and top center margin w/series of small staple holes along left/right and bottom margins. Artboard has even moderate aging and is Fine overall, but art remains clean and Exc.
