Item Description
7x9.25" original glossy silver gelatin photo w/a New York photographer's mark at bottom right. Image features 20 figures of which 18 are African American including: six in "C" sweaters; eight wearing a gray button up jacket w/"Cavalry" embroidered across chest; three wearing jerseys reading "Cavalry" and one of the three officers in top row. Photo also features three large trophies at bottom center and a smattering of equipment including a catchers gear and crossed bats. A small fluffy dog, presumably the teams mascot, sits to the right. Scattered emulsion loss near the clipped bottom right corner, a small loss at top right corner, minor creasing along the left side and a 1/4" horizontal edge tear affecting the foliage at left. Overall VG. Strong contrast and an excellent clarity. A rare artifact of a World War I era 'Buffalo Soldier' baseball team.
